Reading and arranging the overview
How to read a ticker's overview, from the key-levels strip to the shared price axis, and how to move, hide, and add its panels.
The overview (/SPX) is a ticker's main page. It puts the price and the levels on one price axis, so a level sits at the same height in every panel beside the chart.
The key-levels strip
The row across the top of every positioning page shows five levels, each with its distance from the price in the top bar:
- Zero gamma: where total dealer gamma changes sign.
- Call wall and put wall: the strikes holding the most positive and the most negative dealer gamma.
- Max pain and the expected move: for the nearest expiration in the set, named in the corner.
- Near call wall and near put wall: the largest walls within two expected moves of the price, when the walls themselves are further away or on the other side.
The expected move and the historical range are drawn from the last close, and the key says where the price is in them ("Spot +0.8σ from the Oct 26 close 7,677"). A wall more than two expected moves away is a tag at the strip's end with its distance; press it to pin the wall on the charts.
Hover a card to light its level on every chart. Press it to pin the level: it stays lit and in view, and the others dim until you press it again. On Pro the distances follow the live price.
The price itself is in the top bar; point at it to see its time. On Pro, when the price is a pre-market or after-hours trade, a clock at the corner of the strip says when it traded and which close the levels are from: "After hours 19:59 ET · Levels as of the Oct 16 close". Point at the clock, or move to it with the keyboard.
The panels
In the default arrangement:
- Price chart (top left): candles with the levels drawn as rules across them, the expected move as a band, and on Pro the intraday greek overlay behind the candles. See Price chart.
- Exposure by strike (beside the chart): dealer gamma, vanna, charm, or delta as bars at each strike, on the chart's price scale, with the gamma profile laid over the gamma bars. See Exposure by strike.
- Levels (right): the regime chip, each level's price and distance, the totals of each exposure, and the five major strikes.
- Heatmap (bottom left): By expiration, exposure by strike in each expiration, or Intraday, exposure by strike through the session. See Heatmaps.
- Max pain and expected move (bottom right): each expiration's max pain and expected move, on the same price scale. Maximize opens
/SPX/max-pain.
From 1920 pixels the overview fills the screen and the heatmap joins the top row. Under 1100 pixels Levels moves under the chart, and on a phone everything is one column.
One price axis
The chart, the ladder, the heatmap, and max pain share the chart's price range. Zoom any of them (the wheel over a price axis, a pinch, or dragging the axis) and the others follow, so a strike never sits at two heights. Double-click an axis to go back to automatic. A pinned level always stays in view.
One crosshair runs across the panels in a row: point at a price in the chart and the ladder and heatmap mark the same price.
Focus pages
Each panel's maximize button, at the top right of its header, opens it at full size on its own page with its settings kept: /SPX/chart, /SPX/heatmap, /SPX/strikes (exposure by strike, with max pain and the expected move still as tabs), /SPX/max-pain (max pain and the expected move), and /SPX/levels. The same corner leads back.
/SPX/levels also carries the read: a few sentences on the regime, where spot sits against the levels, and what changed, filled from the same numbers as the table.
Arranging the overview
The overview has five places, and any panel fits any place. Each row sizes its columns to the panels in it.
- Swap two panels: drag a panel by its title onto another panel. Each panel shows what dropping there would do ("Swap with Levels"). Esc cancels.
- From the keyboard: each panel's settings cog has a Layout section with Move to…, Hide, Add panel, and Reset layout. Move to… also lists any hidden places (
Empty) so you can move a panel into one. - Hide removes the panel and collapses its place so the remaining panels in that row share the full width (for example, hiding Exposure by Strike leaves Price Chart and Levels side by side at 50/50).
- Add panel lists every panel not on the overview: hidden ones, and panels from other pages (options flow, net premium drift, IV rank, the historical move, and the option chain). Added panels fill the first empty place on the grid, or start a new row of two below (up to six added panels).
- Reset layout goes back to the default.
The layout is saved to your account, the same for every ticker and device. Without an account it stays in your browser. A panel your plan doesn't open shows its lock in place.
What is this?
Wherever a panel has a settings cog (every panel on the overview has one), the menu ends with What is this?, which opens that panel's page in these docs.
